I started teaching private lessons in high school, for free, to other students in the percussion section of both the concert and marching bands. Shortly after starting as a music major at Asbury Univeristy I continued to teach lessons. During my collegiate years I also was involved in taking private lessons and playing for all available percussion-needed ensembles (concert band, jazz band, orchestra, etc.). For beginning students, I start with getting comfortable holding the drum sticks and understanding how to properly strike the drumhead. Students will be introduced to basic notes and rhythms that will help them along the way. Beginning students start on drum pads and progressively move towards actual drums.
