I have been a finalist in several competitions, including the Seattle Philharmonic's Don Bushell Concerto Competition, the University of Washington Concerto Competition, the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival Concerto Competition, and the Seattle Flute Society's Soloist Horsfall Competition. In addition, I was named the prizewinner of the 2015 Coeur d'Alene Young Artist Competition. I give precise weekly practice assignments and expect the parents to be involved with their child's practicing. For adults, I like to have them set the tone as to what they want to work on, as adults have goals in ways that children do not. My main focus is trying to teach students HOW to learn music, so that they can eventually create their own methodology based on what works best for them. I have eight years of experience teaching private lessons, so I understand how to craft a curriculum to an individual's needs.
