I am comfortable in many styles and can help with everything from preparing for honor band auditions, adult beginners desiring to learn a new instrument, jazz improvisation, rock, pop or solo repertoire. I am a University of North Texas graduate. I studied with Jim Riggs and Dr. Eric Nestler and played in the top lab bands and classical ensembles while attending school. I later moved to NYC where I started my professional playing career. I lived there for 14 years playing with several music ensembles and studied with Bill Blount on clarinet and Lorrie Glaze on piano. I received her Bachelor of Science degree in political science and flute, graduating from the Ball State University honors college at age 20. I earned my masters degree and Ph.D in flute from New York University where I was the youngest woman to receive a Ph.D from the School of Arts and Sciences. A university professor for 12 years, I have been a faculty member of the University of New Haven where I taught flute, piano and economics in addition to teaching flute, music history and music theory at Southern Connecticut State University and South Central Community College.
