I taught throughout my time in college as well. I took a short break after graduating with my master's but have since returned to teaching in the Rockwall area. Hello, I am a saxophonist, composer, educator and multi-instrumentalist. I began playing the saxophone at age 12 and from the moment I first touched the horn, I was hooked. After becoming more familiar with the jazz language, I quickly became further immersed in the jazz scene back home in Dallas. I use the Mark Thomas flute books for beginner through the 2nd year. In the first year, I typically teach basic fundamentals of scales and playing the full range of the instrument along with basic flute literature. Once these are complete I transition into the Anderson studies and more advanced literature. The more advanced flutest would work in the Trevor Wye book series and medium advanced to advanced flute literature. Read More

I've been teaching privately for about 15 years, starting when I was a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Since that time, I've taught students on Saxophone, Flute, and Clarinet at all levels, from beginners all the way to advanced players in high school. My focus as an undergraduate was in jazz performance, and I love to teach about jazz techniques, beginning to advanced improvisation, and group dynamics. However, I feel that a strong classical foundation is important as well, and emphasize reading and technical studies to make sure my students are as proficient as possible on their instrument.
