Howard School for the Arts and Education (in Wilson, NC) where I introduced a marching band program and lead the band to winning second place in the Music in the Parks competition in May of 2015. I typically use the Alfred series of Piano Method materials to teach my piano students. Along with those materials, I add solo pieces for my students to learn as they progress. With my younger students especially, I enjoy introducing fun pieces for holidays throughout the year. I teach to my individual students abilities and interests to keep it engaging, enjoyable and fun too! I always find ways to motivate my students to practice on their own. I do this by trying to find music that fits their interests, helping them set long-term and short-term goals, and giving students etudes, repertoire, and practice techniques that are challenging, yet not overwhelming.
