I am teacher who works to inspire students to really go for it, and use the guitar and bass to express themselves! I approach the music from the students desires and favorite music so that always sustains your passion and interest, and makes and keeps learning and practicing fun. I like all kinds of rock, blues, and jazz, and love to teach songs, and song writing as well. My emphasis is on self expression and performance, and then reading, theory and technique. Read More

It's a milestone that can be both thrilling and nerve-wracking, and my goal is to ensure they're well-prepared and confident when the time comes. When it comes to adult students, my teaching philosophy takes a somewhat different route. I place a significant emphasis on getting to know what makes each adult student tick, musically speaking. I find out what styles, genres, or artists ignite their passion for music. Whether they're into classical, rock, jazz, or anything in between, I aim to tailor my instruction to align with their unique interests and preferences. Read More

I mostly do paperless. Less money involved, less waste of papers. I use a lot of videos and recordings. The principal instrument that needs to be trained is the hears. Brain and fingers immediately after. When a method is necessary, based on level of the student and topics studied, I recommend Creative Guitar by Guthrie Govan 1 and 2; Advancing Guitarist by Mick Goodrick and The Lesson by Victor Wooten. This last one is not properly a method, but an incredible book about music and musicians, that teaches more than the big majority of methods out there Read More

I started teaching part time while still in high school back in my native Malaysia and that is where my experience began. I taught on and off while in Malaysia during the pandemic (due to the nature of COVID), but I have gotten into regular teaching since moving to LA in 2022. I am an instructor who emphasizes student success, happiness, fulfillment and result. I understand that some students have different wants, needs and priorities when it comes to music education and I am ready to cater to all student types! Read More

I never had a degree in music nor I mastered a musical instrument. It was just my hobby because in my country, music would only offer limited jobs or may not be even considered as a career by many. Until now, I really enjoy playing those different musical instruments but I have decided to focus on piano and saxophone (tenor) because they have been like my first love and true love, respectively. My teaching philosophy is pretty simple and I describe it with these three words clear, direct, and creative. I believe that when it comes to teaching a teacher must be creative, since not all students learn the same way. Also a teacher must be simple and direct in his teachings. A lot of the times teachers tend to give too much information that goes over the head of the students. Read More
