I began teaching privately about ten years ago. This occurred rather organically by having conversations with people in which they expressed interest in either learning a new instrument, or expanding on their preexisting skills. Though I do have a formal music education, I did start off self-taught, learning songs from my favorite bands and artists. Because of this, I use a combination of assigned songs and songs requested by the student to help build and conceptually realize their facility on their instrument, as well as basic scale and chord theory. I've been a passionate musician all my life. Ever since my Nana bought me a mini electric piano when I was 3 ears old, it's been a staple of my life ever since. I studied guitar and piano all through out grade school and high school and continued my music education into college. I studied production, jazz, and theory at JJC of Illinois before transferring to DePaul University. I moved to L.A to perform and have been here for the past year teaching music at the West Coast Music Academy of Santa Clarita. Read More

I am a very easy going, passionate and patient human being. I think discipline is game changer, but also understanding at the same time. Balance in between a good practice schedule and our will to actually seat and practice is a good key for someone at the beginning of her/his journey. For intermediate up to advanced levels discipline is not anymore a possible issue, so I directly work on the developing of their personal style, since in many cases is already flourishing to some degrees at those levels. I've found that being flexible and adaptible is most important to me, as everyone learns in a different way. I place a lot of importance on following student interest and goals as well, since it doesn't matter how great your instruction is if you're bored and don't want to keep playing. I think every student should get as much out of their lesson experience as they want, whether that means a more casual experience where you're not practicing too much throughout the week, or holding my student more accountable if they express more ambitious goals.
