For students between the ages of 3 and 7, I typically use either the Little Mozarts method or the Birds and Dogs method. For students who are older, I use a combination of methods, including Alfred's, Bastien and Faber. I have also designed and used my own curriculum for students with special needs, including students who have autism, cerebral palsy, nerve damage, ADHD and for gifted students. I incorporate classical music including Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Kabalevsky and many others for more advanced students, and especially for students who are competing. Read More

I'm a pssionate musician and music teacher. I enjoy sharing my passion with students. I spend much of my time composing and teaching. I graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 2012 with a major in English and a heavy emphasis on music. I have studied African drumming, electronic music, classical music and jazz. I am well versed in hip hop as well. I have stayed tru to my roots and focused on mostly acoustic music, but my range transfers over to electric as well. Read More

For a decade had studios in San Francisco and Silicon Valley before leaving the S.F. Bay area. For twenty years I served as a public educator teaching some, K-5 music, 1st year band and middle school orchestra. Most of my duty load was as a first year String Orchestra teacher. When I came to the district it was titled Strings class. Branding the class as a String Orchestra in addition to learning a new instrument, gave an added measure of expected accomplishment through the year to many students. Read More

My teaching experience started many years ago with a few students who were interested in learning jazz and improvisational music. I have taught group classes and one on one now for 25 years. I have much experience working with beginner and young students making their first attempts at playing an instrument as well as players already proficient at the guitar who want to brach out and learn new things. I prefer to teach students who can commit to a regular scheduled weekly lesson as Ive found the consistant work on an instrument is what really produces the most positive results and enjoyment for the student. I simply want my students to come into their first lesson wanting to learn more about their instrument and music. I want them to leave their final lesson feeling the same way, but at a more advanced level than when they first arrived. They don't need to be professional level when they leave, but I want them to feel as though they learned some valuable things as my student and want to either continue learning elsewhere or feel content about what they have learned and are ready to move on to other things. Instruments: Flute
I've been playing flute for many many decades. I keep it fresh by continuing to learn more about music. It's an endless well of possibilities. I currently play with a jazz quartet. I've played flute since i was 9 years old and currently favor the alto flute, with its rich, lower tone. I play and teach both C flute (regular flute) and the alto flute. In teaching, i emphasize music basics and also focus on comfort which leads to better tone and more ease. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet French Horn
I started teaching horn in 1976 and have taught ever since. Students are to perform not only a recital if possible or play a solo as part of a musical program but to play in a musical organization if possible. My teaching began teaching in the US Army with under performing horn players with technique, hand positioning and air control. The instruction continued through 19 years as an enlisted Army musician. Two years was in active duty service in Europe. Read More
