I usually start out by doing the methods book but I also stress the importance of playing with others in a group or duet setting. I love getting to play the teacher part with my students so it's more of a collaboration than a solo job. My goal is to have my students play duets with each other if that can be accommodated. To sing freely one must feel safe and at liberty to try things, to make sounds which in other places are frowned upon. I aim to provide a place where students can try things and receive positive reinforcement for what works, rather than judgement about what is wrong. That being said, for children and beginners, I will focused mainly on the basics such as: proper posture, proper guitar technique, basic chords, basic rhythms, warm-ups ...
