My experience goes back over ten years.  I have taught students privately and also from teaching services.  Presently, I am teaching piano at a school here in the Miami area.  In additionn to that, I have several private students that I teach at my home studio.  My students are encouraged to practice everyday.  If they are taking lessons because they are interested, it is easier to teach them.  If they are coming because their parents want to learn, they are not as inclined to enjoy their lessons. For beginning students, I start with Randal and Nancy Faber's Piano Adventure books, which includes lesson books, performance books, and theory books as well. Once the students have a grasp on the fundamentals, they will then move on to solo repertoire for their first recital performance. For adolescents to young adults, based on how they are learning with their piano teacher, I can help with the student decide what repertoire they should learn for Student Day, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, etc. Read More

I first began teaching when I was appointed by my professor to be the tutor for music theory and beginning guitar class at the college I was attending. From 2011 until spring of 2014 I worked as the music director for an elementary school. What I like to do in my studio is, set realistic goals for the student. I use "challenges" to help students achieve their goals. And reward them when they achieve them. I like using a lot of games as well to make piano learning fun. So I teach a lot of theory aspects using games with timers, and flash cards, dry erase dices and prizes when goals are meant. With beginning students, I like to use a combination of Alfreds Basic method books. I like the variety it gives students from fundamentals to performance tunes, sight reading and music theory. Students will progress from playing on black keys only, hands separately, to simple five key songs very quickly. We would also explore a few minutes in each lesson on games in music theory on iPad or with manipulatives so they will develop note reading skills. Read More

Hello, Ive been teaching in Broward County since 2001. I have my BA and MA from FAU where I studied piano with Judith Burganger and voice with Susan Dorchin. Before that I studied piano with Harold Brown. Ive been trained in the area of performance and that is my specialty. However I also had overcome a medical issue using music so I am also quite proficient in music as medicine.
