For beginning children students I typically start with Hal Leonard or a similar reputable music book.  Once the students has a grasp of the fundamentals we will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their age and skill level.  For adult students, I find out what the student is interested in and create a lesson plan that is fun and challenging no matter their skill level. I strongly believe in a flexible manner of instruction, depending on the student’s particular characteristics and musical temperament. Thus, my approach to teaching is different for each student. Some students possess a more “mechanical” way of thinking, and are not naturally comfortable expressing themselves in public.
