For beginner students I really like to work on the basics, i.e. mouth, air, and vibration of the lips and then start blowing on the instruments ,The importance of having these basic principles well resolved and important to be able to advance to the next level For intermediate students to make many scales, long grades and as the evolution add other exercises such as flexibility, arpeggios, simple staccato, double and triple etc... I am a passionate 27 year old musician who has decided to start teaching. Music brings a joy and connects people like nothing else in existence, and my goal is to be able to spread that with my students. I graduated SUNY Geneseo in 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, and a Music minor. I am only 23, and my music career is only beginning. I had just started a band that would have started playing around Rochester if not for the current situation of the world. Read More

I began teaching music in 2013. At the time, I was working with a local music school, teaching Music Theory and Music History to kids aged 5-18. Three years later, in 2016, I opened my own private piano studio. The studio, in my hometown of Milan, remained open until 2019 when moved to Philadelphia, PA. Since then, I have been teaching and tutoring music students at every level; from grade school to college. Read More

Again it's really dependent on the skill level and familiarity with certain aspects of music / music theory. I try to focus on one thing at a time, to gauge how well the student is absorbing and see how well my teaching methods are working. Knowing what the notes are and where they are comes first, before anything. Once they have a solid grasp on that, I can start to teach chords and scales in C and explain the concept of tonality (if needed). Read More

It is not necessary, however, to learn chords or grooves specifically from a book for these instruments. Depending on the desired style, there may not be much use of notated music, guitar tabliture, etc. But as already stated, this does not excuse a good foundation in reading music and understanding music theory. For more advanced players (who would most likely be percussionists if working with me, though I am willing to work with any instrument at a more advanced level), we would work out of books I and the student(s) find fitting for their skill level. My teaching style is fairly simple. Whatever the student wants to learn, I will do my best to teach them how to take and conquer each step to get there. I never really had any formal music lessons until college, but I know that when I had a teacher, I wished that I could just learn what I wanted to learn. I want my students to feel absolutely comfortable when we're in a lesson. Read More

Every student is unique, and every student deserves a unique curriculum. That said, I usually start my absolute beginners off with open position chords and, when they're ready, open position scales - pentatonic and diatonic. We explore repertoire, often partially of the student's choosing. When this is established, we will dive into scales in all positions on the fretboard, and the corresponding modes for major, melodic minor, and harmonic minor. Read More
