I believe that if the student is capable of reading and learning the repertoire quickly, he or she will become much more motivated and the act of practicing will be something pleasant. I like my students to fell they practice because they like to, and not only because they have to. I had begun teaching flute lessons during my undergraduate degree, and have more than 10 years of experience. I have taught private lessons in my own studio, also at afterschool institutes/programs such as Orchepia School of Music in Diamond Bar, CA, and Kid's Orchestra in Baton Rouge, LA. I was trained in Vocal Pedagogy by Jean Del Santo, a renowned pedagogue and professor at the University of Minnesota. I earned my bachelors degree from Northwestern State University in music performance, and my masters degree in music performance from Louisiana State University. My education has culminated in an understanding of many musical styles from classical music and jazz in the double bass to funk, blues, and metal on the electric bass.
