I prefer to emphasize skill-building and retention, and always want to make sure the student is enjoying the process. I prefer to set realistic short- and long-term goals for students at each lesson, and acknowledge their accomplishments with a system of rewards. Additionally, at the end of each year, I encourage my students' participation in a studio-wide voluntary recital, which is intended to showcase their growth and development over the course of the year as well as afford them an opportunity to perform in public. I started to learn piano at 6 and it became my soul mate of my life. I just graduated from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Graduate Performance Diploma in piano performance major. During the past year, I won the full assistantship to be as a full-time teaching assistant in keyboard skill for non-piano majors. I teach undergrad students. For younger beginning student I prefer to use Essential Elements for a good foundation. For older beginners I prefer the Rubank Method. Once the basics are grasped I add in level appropriate solo music. As the students progress I move either into the Rubank Method for younger students or the Trevor Wye method for the older students.
