I'm a life-long musician and am extremely interested in passing my knowledge on to others. Currently I am a band director in the Pueblo, Colorado area but have lived all over the United States and played trumpet extensively for over 2 decades. Hello! I am a flutist and piccoloist who is passionate about teaching others. I am currently working towards a Masters in Flute Performance at Colorado State University. I just recently graduated from Florida State University this December with a Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education, a Bachelors in Music Theory, and a Specialized Study in Flute Performance. At the start of the lesson, I will emphasize tone and air control which I've found makes a huge difference as a warm up. The primary books I will work out of are Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. As students progress and I feel that they have a handle on the basics, I will slowly start to incorporate other repertoire that will be exciting to play and perform. My teaching style is completely based around being down to earth with the student and to make sure that they are comfortable with the learning process. A student will be guided, not forced to apply themselves and be an active part of their musical growth.
