At all levels (beginner-advanced), I teach piano performance, technique, music theory, ear training, and sight reading. My curriculum follows the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) standards, and students are strongly encouraged to take RCM examinations as they progress through each level. I try to tailor my lessons almost like a Doctor sees a patient. Every student is different, I do think it is important to learn to read music. I love music theory and I emphasize learning to love practicing technique. With my beginner piano students I generally use a Hal Leonard series book, but supplement it with a book of piano exercises. With my guitar students it depends on their age and experience, I use a Hal Leonard method book for youngsters and then begin teaching them songs they identify that they really want to learn. As a lover of multiple genres of music, I aim to improve technique, versatility, and musicianship with my teaching. I recently graduated Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Music Business. During my time in school, I performed throughout the Boston area at venues such as the Middle East and the Berklee Performance Center. After graduating, I was able to tour through parts of New England and perform at venues ranging from small night clubs to large festivals, including the Mud Run Rock Gods Tribute Festival in Howland, Maine. I listen to what the student has to say, and also hone in on where they are currently in their musicianship. This allows me to really see what areas need to be focused on specifically. I strongly encourage students to push themselves and will often provide slightly more challenging material to help them improve.
