Instruments: Voice
Before returning to PA in the summer of 2017, I taught Preschool-6th Grade general music in Richmond and Oakland, CA. Along with classroom teaching, I've taught voice, guitar, ukulele, piano and group music classes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm currently working towards a PA K-12 Education Certification. As a classically trained Tenor, I've performed numerous operatic roles ranging from “Rinuccio” in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi to “Apollo” in Monteverdi's L'orfeo. Read More

I began teaching woodwinds when I was 18 while attending Northern Illinois University. I would help junior high and high school students in the area in private lessons. At age 23 I began teaching music courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Turkey. After leaving Turkey in 2001, I have focused on private lessons, teaching students of all ages and ability levels. I have been fortunate enough to perform with many incredible world-class musicians such as Quincy Jones, Phil Collins, Tito Puente, Chaka Khan, David Sanborn, Toots Thielemans, Paquito DRivera and Gerald Albright. I started teaching privately in 2010 and have helped students of all ages prepare for their exams (grades 1 to 8), auditions and other performances. Most of my students are long-term students and have been learning with me for 3-4 years, with some up to 6 years. I take great pride in their success and they have had a 100% success rate in the ABRSM exams. In addition to teaching privately, I have also taught in various primary schools in the London Borough of Newham (including in Winsor and Park primary schools), teaching violin to small groups of students in Years 5 and 6 (4th and 5th Grade) to take steps 1, 2 and grade 1 in the ECAM programme created by the London College of Music and the University of West London. They then see the fruits of their work, and this gives them encouragement to continue onward. I find using a combination of both tradition music teaching and a more modern, song-oriented approach to teaching helps to keep students motivated, especially the younger students. I have taught students from age 5 to 75, and well over 150 students since I began teaching. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! Read More

Instruments: Drums
Through my years of lessons and practice, I've narrowed down the fundamentals into two books based around Rock and Jazz: Ultimate Realistic Rock by Carmine Appice and Advanced Techniques for the modern drummer by Jim Chapin. I also teach rudiments through the practice pad to sharpen control and speed when playing drumset. Through these books and rudiments you'll build a solid foundation that will make learning more advanced grooves or fills easier to play. Read More
Instruments: Trombone Euphonium Tuba
I like to teach one on one with all age groups. I start beginners out on basic methods books to understand them instrument that they are holding and then slowly ease them into more challenging and sophisticated repertoire, including Rochut Etudes, Kopprasch Exercises, Blazhevich, and Blume. In a student's early development I like to introduce solo repertoire and gradually (throughout high school years) introduce a repertoire of Sonatas, Concerti, and excerpts to them. Read More
