Instruments: Violin Viola Clarinet
I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves sharing the transformative power of classical music with students. I am currently working towards getting a Bachelor's of Music Performance at New York University. I've had the privilege of playing with orchestras and chamber ensembles in amazing spaces like Carnegie Hall, Weill recital hall, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. There's something truly magical about sharing a beloved piece of music with an audience for the first time, and this is what excites me most about performing. Read More
Instruments: Flute Recorder Piccolo
I am an international performing artist, having toured throughout Europe and North America as an orchestral and solo musician at venues including the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, National Concert Hall of Ireland, and Palais Corbelli in Vienna, Austria. My recent engagements include working as principal flute with Lyric Opera Ireland as well as SinfoNua Orchestra. I am a founding member of the Pento Wind Quintet having played at the Kaleidoscope Chamber Festival and Blackwater Valley Festival. Read More
Instruments: Voice
In the first lesson, I listen very carefully to what the student wants to achieve and how they feel about the way they sing. Then, I begin my strategy of how to devise a skills building foundation based on their needs. After a few exercises, I can understand how quickly they can adapt and try new techniques. If one approach doesn't work, I try another way of explaining it. I also provide notes to reinforce what is discussed in the lesson so the student can retain new concepts. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Conga Latin Percussion Music
For my piano students who are children I like using Piano Adventures for beginners and advanced beginners, since it's offering multiple books for each subject and level(lessonbook, performance book,etc.).For more grown up ones or adults students I like using Alfred's methods, for example x22Adult All-In-One Course.Alfred's methods offer a variety of books, focusing on different needs according to the class set up.For drums I use Alfred's as well in conjunction with more speficic books such as Stick Control and Syncopation. Instruments: Piano Cello
My teaching began in senior year of my high school. I taught at Memorial High School Orchestra, where I lead cello sectionals, taught one-on-one lessons, and coached chamber ensembles. In addition, I received training in introductory conducting. I believe that with my lessons, I have a balance between having fun and actually improving. Practice is absolutely mandatory to further improve one's abilities, and I expect students to try their best. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute
My approach to teaching can be different based on the age and level of the student. In general I like to keep the pressure off my students and above all find ways to make learning fun and enjoyable. My ideal lesson is one that the student will remember, whether it's a concept we talk about or a song that we learn. I try and teach my students more than how to play notes on a page and to learn songs, but how to discover and tackle projects themselves that otherwise might seem too big a challenge. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Latin Percussion
One thing I strongly encourage is the student to go at his/her pace. There is no judgement on the capability of learning an instrument and because of that I completely understand how long (or how short) a student can learn the drums/piano etc. I try to make every student feel accomplished in a session especially when the material being taught is new and intimidating. But regardless, there will always be a sense of accomplishment because as long as the student feels as if they accomplished something(small or large) I will make it my duty to make sure they know it.
