Balance between discipline and creativity. We tend to lean towards certain musical elements at different  times of our musical developments. I try to be sensitive to the unique interests of each student, and at the same time use my experience to suggest material that would nourish their particular musical interests. There are a lot of aspects in learning to play the piano and explore music. For beginning students, I typically like to work out of the Rubanks Elementary Flute Method Books. I also like to find repertoire which will interest each student, with solo repertoire and duets. As students progress, I like to work out of the Trevor Wye books as well as Taffanel et Gaubert Daily Exercises. I always go out of my way to find exactly what the student is interested in, whether it will be doing a certain technical study or etude in order to fulfill this. Read More
