I teach a combination of Suzuki and traditional methods. I grew up as a Suzuki student, but in my professional teaching life have learned to add additional methods into lessons to supplement training. For young, beginner students, I start them off with a method book like "All for Strings," which teaches first by rote. Not long after the students achieve the basic skills of the violin, we incorporate the Suzuki method and note reading. Read More

Originally from Canada, I moved to Los Angeles in 2014 with my wife and 2 young daughters to escape the cold Canadian winters! I have extensive performing and recording experience and am always enthusiastic about bringing this knowledge to every lesson no matter what level a student is at. I have toured with Grammy award winning artist Sarah Mclachlan and have played on the Tonight Show, Ellen, Good Morning America and many other shows..... Read More

I am a working performer and singer in multiple genres, including fully-staged professional musical theatre productions, choral concerts, choir directing, event solos, and gigging with bands. I recently played Morticia in the Addams Family Musical, produced a full-length classical music concert with a concert pianist, violinist and guitarist; performed at Davies Hall in San Francisco for a National Geographic symphony world premiere, and appeared as a musician on an Old Navy commercial. Instruments: Piano
If you are an advanced student, my lessons will guide you towards deeper and more meaningful personal expression at the piano. I teach piano with an emphasis on both enjoyment and ease of learning. I tailor your piano/music lesson according to your skill level, while incorporating music fundamentals and musicianship. I also offer theory and composition studies. My primary goal for every lesson is that you enjoy your time at the piano while, at the same time, achieving the goals that we will set together at the start of your lessons. Read More

I am an active member of Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC). My students take the Certificate of Merit (CM) test annually in performance, theory, sight-reading and ear training. Taking the CM test is optional but highly recommended. I also make sure my students have plenty of chances at performing on stage at recitals by organizing my own recitals or joining forces with other MTAC teachers. Having a recital to practice for is a great motivation for students to practice daily and gives the parents the chance to see their children's accomplishments. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar
For beginners, I always start with technique. The bass guitar is a very physically demanding instrument and without the proper technique, students can injure themselves and prevent musical expression. After fundamental hand technique is in place, I use a hybrid curriculum that my teacher walked me through mixed with my own theories that have worked for me and from the Musicians Institute basic theory book. Once both physical technique and basic theory is in place, the groundwork to explore is set and i can help the student achieve their goals of learning songs, training their ear, or simply being able to play along to records. Essentials are first. Note names, hand position, mouth position, air, posture, rhythms, sheet music, ear training - it's all important and needs to happen concurrently. Everyone has different strengths; some students are able to handle a large amount of information stacking while others need a more one-at-a-time approach. Music is all about doing several physical and mental things at once, developing self awareness in learning *how* to improve a skill, and myelinating the pathways in your brain for the fastest connections possible.
