I am an American clarinetist and clarinet instructor from Portland, OR. Im currently pursuing a Masters of Music at the Manhattan School of music with Charles Neidich, and recently graduated from University of Oregon with degrees in Clarinet Performance as well as German in 2023. Ive loved classical music since high school, and my dream is to perform regularly as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician. I have a passion for sharing my love of music and clarinet, and regularly post practice/advice videos to a network of over 75,000 people on social media. Read More

I always tailor the method to the student and never the student to the method. If you want to play Joel we will work on that, If you want to play Chopin we will work on that and if you want to improvise we will work on that. I an a sucker for music theory and can talk about it for weeks (which is what I do at MSM). I am also a bottom line practical guy - whatever is your goal on the keys, If I can get you there - I will. As a performing professional Musician who is continually learning, I would like to pass-on what I have gained throughout numerous years of Musical experiences. Having graduated with degrees from Manhattan School of Music, and from The Juilliard School, I "incorporate" Music Theory, Sight-reading and Ear Training as essential dimensions of my lessons, with the addition of playing Duets. Having performed under the direction of the world's most renown conductors [including Leanard Bernstein] and with Musicians, along with having studied with the finest instrumentalists are highlights of my career, along with having played Principal Trombone in the Norwalk Symphony for more than 16 years, having substituted on Broadway, and traveled with two International touring companys' Broadway Show productions. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing than of my students develop a passion for music! There forests important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments help fuel a student desire to progress and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs Read More
Instruments: Violin
I enjoy teaching violin to students of all ages and seeing them progress from novices to advanced players.I develop a rapport with the students and their parents and tailor the lessons to match their goals. Several of my students have auditioned and been accepted by orchestras such as the Essex County Youth Symphony, the NJ Youth Symphony, the Westfield Youtn Orchestra and the Montclair Gamer Orchestra. Several students have continued their music studies at Berklee School of Music in Boston and the Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. Read More

There's nothing worse than buying a drum set to start learning to play, only to have your teacher tell you, "You won't be ready for that for a year." I like to get eveyone playing something fun and interesting as soon as possible. Some examples of books I like to use with beginning students are the "Breeze Easy Drum Method," "Alfred's Drum Method," and Ted Reed's "Syncopation." Songs we may often start lessons with would be "We Will Rock You" by Queen, "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin, "Back in Black" by AC/DC, etc. Read More

My lessons include a combination of popular beginners methods, such as Leorard, Giraffe, Dose of the Day, etc. combined with musical games that teach musical theory and sight reading. I will often write music for my students— short pieces that highlight skills they are working to improve— which is something they really enjoy. Finally, I always include lessons about music history whenever introducing a new piece or composer to my students, so that they begin to understand the musical and cultural context of everything they play.
