I have toured with 3 national acts ranging from metal, to pop, and free form psychedelic rock. Growing up I was exposed to all types of music ranging from Jazz, classical, Blues, Rock, Metal, Funk, and Latin. My drumming influences are, (Danny Carey) of Tool, (John Bonham) of Led Zeppelin, (Ringo Star) of the Beatles, (Steve Smith) of Journey, (Denise Chambers) of Santana, (Carter Beauford) of the Dave Matthews Band, (Louie Bellson) big band jazz drummer, (Chris Adler) of Lamb of God, (David Silveria) of Korn and so many more. As a performing singer I have been very fortunate to have performed in many of the great concert halls of the world, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer Hall, Lincoln Centre, The Barbican and the Royal Albert Hall in London. I have also sung Countertenor roles with many opera companies in the USA and the UK. As a professional choral singer, I was a member of the full time choir at Windsor Castle, England, for 4 years, where I performed in many tours, recordings and royal events. Read More

A student needs to grow at their own pace. My students will not learn anything if they're not enjoying themselves. I always emphasize how important it is to enjoy the effort you put into your practice and lessons. I am full of laughter and energy to keep a lesson flowing with positive vibes. Also, I believe in failure. My students will always be comfortable with failing with gusto! I truly emphasize that it is important to fail, so you can grow. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with an intro Piano or Drum Method. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Mike began playing at age 7 on both piano and drums and started performing at age 14. Later he studied voice in college and picked up the banjo as another instrument to have in his repertoire. I'm a dedicated and experienced guitar instructor who has worked with students of many different ages and skill levels. Over the past 20 years, I have performed, recorded and toured with several noteworthy regional and national recording artists, while also furthering my education along the way. Although I have had some incredible experiences as a performing musician, my biggest passion is sharing my musical knowledge with others. I have had the pleasure of helping countless guitarists become better at their craft through my teaching, and welcome students from any background to contact me about scheduling lessons. Read More

For begining students who are under the age of thirteen, I prefer to start with Bastien's Piano Basics. This series comes with four different books (Technic, Piano, Performance, and Theory) that give the student a well rounded lesson. For students over the age of thirteen, I like to use Alfred's Basic Piano Course. This series has a more mature song selection, a variety of genres, includes music theory, and has piano excercises. In lessons, I strive to keep the atmosphere collaborative rather than dictatorial. I encourage you, the student, to ask questions, and I believe it's imperative for you to understand why what you're learning is important. I do my best to make you feel comfortable trying new things and making mistakes. Ultimately, learning vocal technique requires a delicate balance of putting your trust in the teacher without abandoning individual thought. Knowing this, I try to engender the necessary trust inmy knowledge while collaborating with you to incorporate your own words, metaphors, thoughts, and feelings into your approach. Read More
