Because playing music encompasses many distinct disciplines, I do not simply focus on technical development. I provide my students many avenues to improve their music performance abilities by teaching them about both the science and the art of playing an instrument. I am a passionate and dedicated musician, and I love teaching flute players of all levels and ages. I received my master's degree in flute performance from Shenandoah Conservatory in May of 2020 where I studied with internationally renowned flutist, Jonathan Snowden. I'm from Virginia, but currently reside in Columbus, Nebraska, where I spend my time practicing, teaching, and working part-time as volunteer coordinator for CCC Adult Education. For beginning and intermediate students, I offer my own rudiment book to start learning on a practice pad or snare drum. For learning drum set, I use a variety of books and resources. I will meet and discuss these options with each student to find the right book for them. For more advanced students, I have them transcribe entire songs from bands they enjoy. I create Spotify playlists for students so they can easily access a variety of styles of music. Read More

As a trained jazz musician, I like improvising and composing exercises for students on the spot and this is a skill I like to teach my students as well.
