I am an instructor whose own passion and personal relationship with music allows for a one-of-a-kind student-teacher experience. I attended Loyola University New Orleans as a Jazz Studies major from 2008-2011, taking a 3 year sabbatical to perform and tour with the two bands I co-founded. Both of these groups commanded a prolific performance load in and around the greater New Orleans area and surrounding cities and states. In 2017, after returning to Loyola, I became the premiere graduate of the new Bachelor of Science in Popular and Commercial Music program, where I received my knowledge of the business side of the music industry, all the while never ceasing my musical performance. If a student wants to improve their playing, the only way forward is through practice. So, one of the best ways to improve drumming is by practicing how to practice. I am an enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructor who loves sharing my love of music with students. In 2011 I graduated from Haverford College as a Music Minor and History Major. I write songs constantly and have performed hundreds of times as both a solo artist and with bands that I have formed. I have performed in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California, North Carolina, Texas and Louisiana. At the bare minimum, there are four skills that one must become adept in in order to play cello. 1) Proper body movement and coordination 2) Left hand technique (the hand which determines the notes on the instrument) 3) Right hand technique (the hand which manipulates the bow and produces sound) 4) A basic grasp of music theory Every student of mine will be trained in the classical sense, and learn some classical repertoire, because classical technique on the cello is the foundation for any other style the student would like to perform.
