I always start with a strong Classical Foundation, and also specialize in Musical Theatre and Contemporary Styles. Some students love classical music, and we work on Italian arias...while others love 80s Metal Bands, and we work on healthy ways to approach contemporary music. I have been playing the clarinet and saxophone for 13 years. I began teaching lessons in high school and have continued teaching since. I went to school at Northern Oklahoma College to obtain my Associates Degree in Music and continued my education at Oklahoma City University where I received a Bachelors Degree in Instrumental Music Education. I will also help a student with any outside pieces for school or the community. Piano Lessons: For beginning students who are very young, I start with Bastien Piano Basics or Hal Leonard Essential Elements. For adults/teens, I use the KJOS Bastien book for adults or the upper level books by Hal Leonard. I also have my students play popular pieces or holiday pieces of their choosing in addition to their classical repertoire. Read More

I am an avid listener as well as player. I perform as a solo guitarist specializing in Celtic and American acoustic music. I also work as an accompanist on a variety of instrument (mandolin, dulcimer, banjo, guitar) for singer-songwriters. You can catch my band Harper Valley Hypocrites performing locally. Our material cover Dylan to Zevon as well as some great original tunes. I continue to write and arrange pieces for fretted instruments and find great joy in adapting pop and rock classics to instruments that are not normally used for such tunes. Read More

Students of all ages will work out of a technique/method book. Younger students will use Walter Beeler's Method for Cornet/Trumpet, more advanced students will play from Arban's. I emphasize a "classical" approach, especially with younger students to solidify their skills, encouraging intersted students to begin including jazz improvisation into their studies as their skills advance. We work on tone production, helping the student improve in this area through attention to breathing, embouchure, articulation, long tones, lip flexibilities, scales, etc. Read More
