I specialize in orchestral repertoire, however my career has allowed for solo engagements as well as extensive chamber music across North America and Europe. I teach students how to play, as well as, read music.  I teach a variety of techniques and styles of music using books and making up lessons for my students.  I teach my students at any age how to play the set, along with snare drum techniques, and play with songs. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Vic Firth books. I have over 12 years teaching experience both piano and voice to students of all levels and ages. When I work with a student, my first goal is to establish a positive, open dialogue where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new techniques or styles, and stepping outside of their comfort zone. From there, I prioritize developing a healthy technique in both singing and playing piano, emphasize musical literacy where we regularly work on reading notes on a modern staff notation (with all the accompanying vocabulary), and explore a wide range of repertoire that speaks to the student. My teaching style is best referred to as a facilitator. Essentially, I promote self-learning, helping students develop critical thinking skills and retain knowledge that leads to self-actualization. I prefer to guide students by letting them think for themselves, pointing out when mistakes are made but also encouraging them to learn and grow from them. The draw back from this is that it can be a bit time consuming, but I feel that at the end of the day, this helps a student so that eventually they will be able to learn by themselves without a teacher. I am first and foremost a student. I love being a student and love being open to new forms of music and anything to better my education. In May of 2017 I graduated from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance.
