My teaching method is entirely student driven. Every student has different goals and different styles of learning. Because of this, the "cookie-cutter" approach many teachers take are ineffective. I take the time during the first lesson to ask the student what their short and long term goals are with their instrument, and from there I can start laying out a lesson plan. I believe practicing is important, but I do not believe assigning homework is an effective way to make music fun for a student. For Guitar I feel that it is best for everyone to start out learning classical and then branch out to other styles. However,  I , as a teacher want to teach everything if I can , while at the same time really focusing on what the students goals are in learning to play and what music gets them excited about playing.
