For beginning students, I typically will start them on a method book such as The Yamaha series, and start them on the basic pedagogy of the clarinet and saxophone,ie; putting the instrument together, putting the reed on the mouthpiece, setting the embouchure, etc. I will emphasize the importance of practicing; beginners, 5 times a week for 20 minutes, so they can succeed in learning their instrument. I have performed professionally in opera, operetta, and oratorio across the United States and Europe. I have studied vocal performance at University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, the Mozarteum and Universitaet Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, and the University of Maine-Orono. I have a BA in German Language & Literature from UMKC, an MS in Organizational Psychology from from UHartford, and also teach foreign languages privately. I address breathing, body alignment, relaxation/tension, and all of the aspects of singing through exercises tailor-made to address the student's individual and immediate needs. For most of my students, I will provide specific pieces that will help in their development and keep their interest.
