Classical and jazz music and multiple styles. Beginners are always fun to teach Kids are like sponges they just absorb everything you can think of and they will always give me a sense that Im doing something they can enjoy for their whole life. Adults can be somewhat of a challenge especially if they never played an instrument while growing up but if theyre willing to put the time and effort in it can become a very fulfilling and nice hobby. Instruments: Violin Viola

For beginner students, I start with Hal Leonard's "Essential Elements for Strings" Book 1. This book is not only great for learning the fundamentals of the instrument (such as the names of the parts of the instrument, how to hold the instrument, etc.) but it also the best book I have found to teach beginning students how to read music on the violin and viola. For more advanced students, I like to stick with a formula of three things: scales (two-three octaves), an etude (a piece used to focus on a specific technique), and solo repertoire. Read More

Instruments: Piano Keyboard

The most rewarding thing is to start a new student-wherever their abilities are- and watch their passion for music and musical abilities grow. The most rewarding thing to me is when I see something that a student has struggled with "click" and they master it and move on. I encourage students through every lesson and each process of learning piano. I strive to keep it at a pace that is neither too fast or too slow for the students, all while keeping the lessons fun. Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola

My teaching style is supportive and progressive. Keeping things fresh, new, and exciting is always a factor in all of my lessons, no matter the student or the instrument. Furthermore, my teaching philosophy is that positivity and encouragement leads to progress at all levels. I try to push my students to achieve their full potential without making them feel forced to do so. This way, my students learn more about themselves through music instead of feeling stagnant and unmotivated because of music. Read More

Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar

Originally from Dayton, Ohio I've been in the Tampa Bay, Florida area since 1985. I played drums as a kid but gravitated to guitar in my teens. I've been playing and teaching for about 49 years now. But that doesn't mean that I'm old. In fact it is guitar that keeps me bonded with my youth. In addition to music, I did twenty years of youth work in a variety of non-profit settings. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
