I've played Broadway for Music Man, Little Mary Sunshine, Fantasticks, West Side Story in Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg Area. My overall experience in playing Organ is 50 years along with Christmas musicals, Hymn sings, Gospel fests, etc. In college, I sang in Oratorio group to Vocal Jazz, Wind ensemble, and HandBell choir. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I have been consistently teaching students since 2018. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. Throughout the process, I also integrate tidbits of music theory and history to give the student a more well-rounded experience.  As for guitar and piano, I normally take a more custom approach to teaching that tends to not revolve around any specific method book. However, I typically teach beginning pianists and guitarists how to read through and play simple pieces of music so that they understand the fundamentals before moving on to a mix of songs or pieces that I select and songs or pieces that the student wishes to play so as to keep things fresh and exciting.  Read More

Since I am also a composer and arranger, I tend to be partial towards the use of my own "homemade" methods.... taking on the idea of composers like Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann (example would be Album of the Young) and writing simple pieces that reinforce specific technical challenges like double thirds, left hand arpeggios, consecutive octaves, pedalling and so on. Sometimes if I have a student that likes Pink Floyd or Eric Clapton, for instance, I will do my best to come up with a simplified version of a particular song using good ole staff paper. Read More

The most rewarding thing to see is a student play their first full song and realize they did it with ease. My teaching style is why my students do well - it's because I tailor the lesson to each individual student. I want students to feel progress with each lesson. I truly never want to leave a lesson without seeing a student progress. My style is laid-back and incorporates multiple different tips that have proven effective in teaching new piano players.
