My experience with doing private lessons started when my last year at Bethune Cookman to earn a little extra cash in my pocket. I started out teaching beginning elementary students which sharpened up my skills for basic knowledge of the saxophone. As time progressed I started to teach intermediate student so that they can develop the tone and basic technique. During my time at FIU I was a Teaching Assistant with the FIU Marching Band. There I assisted in the direction and teaching of the marching band students, and attended all performances. For the past 5 years or so I have been teaching private saxophone students as well. My experience with saxophone consists of classical pedagogy. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students develop a passion for music, and seeing their confidence grow as they progress. Therefore, it is important that each student learns at his or her own pace. There is no need to over-exhaust them with tasks but I do encourage individual growth and development by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments big or small helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students more eager to learn. Read More
