Greetings, I'm a recent college graduate who studied secondary education (grades 7-12). I'm a lifelong musician, and have been playing guitar and alto saxophone for about 20 years. I've also been playing piano for about 10 years. I studied music theory, composition, and musicianship for four years; and I continue to use these skills in my practice as a professional musician today. I didn't enter this industry as a teacher, but as an artist and activist. At 11 years old, I learned about the human trafficking epidemic and was determined to do something to help. I gathered up my keyboard and my little sister Iris (then 4 years old), and began writing and performing music to raise funds and awareness for victims. I use several different method books for teaching. The books I typically use are Alfred's Basic Guitar, Mel Bay's beginner books as well as Hal Leonard's melody books. I teach beginner students the basics of how to properly hold their guitar, hand and finger placement, and simple note reading and chords.
