Generally layed back low pressure lessons, but I will push a student if they let me. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

I work to custom-tailor my lessons for each individual student based on their skill level and musical tastes (my main areas of focus for guitar are in the pop/rock/folk/indie genres ranging back to the 60s up to current music and classical/pop/electronic for piano/keys). I believe the best way to learn music is to play music that excites you. I teach everything from technique to theory using the students favorite songs and adjusting them as needed. Read More
Instruments: Violin
For young children, i would start by showing them Twinkle Twinkle, once the student is able to hold the violin and bow upright without my help, and they understand the basics of violin. For children and adults, i would start with the book A Tune A Day, cause it teaches the basics of playing the violin such as simple scales and arpeggios, and will allow the student to make progress with each song they learn. My teaching methods are rooted in the balance between technical proficiency and emotional expression, reflecting my own journey and experiences as a guitar player. I craft custom lesson plans for each student, recognizing that everyone's musical journey is unique. For beginning students, I usually start with foundational techniques, ensuring a solid grasp of finger placement, chords, scales, and rhythm. I use a combination of traditional materials and my own specially designed exercises that cater to the individual's interests and musical tastes. Read More
Instruments: Piano
My favorite part of teaching is witnessing the student's joy as he or she plays his or her first piece from beginning to end with full confidence. In order to achieve this I provide as much encouragement as possible in well performed passages, and zero-in on trickier passages. I require that my students practice as regularly as possible and most of their assigned homework consists in suggesting strategies or exercises to master those trickier passages as soon as possible and move on to even trickier ones. My experience as a music educator started in high school when my band director sent a few middle school bass and guitar students my way, at which point I discovered a great love for teaching. Since then I have taught several electric and upright bass students throughout my time as a Berklee student, as well as rhythm section master classes. I'm experienced in teaching students of all ability levels in subjects such as technique, rhythm/ear training, sight reading, music theory, and composition. Read More
Instruments: Clarinet Music
My outlook on musical training begins with an exceptional foundation of fundamental skills. I stress the importance of air and finger efficiency, as well as an excellent ear. Developing those skills early in musical development predisposes a student to succeed. When the student shows a clear understanding of such concepts, focus will be shifted toward broader topics such as alternative practicing techniques, reed working, technical knowledge of the clarinet, and a comprehensive study of the standard repertoire, as a supplement to each student's individually chosen repertoire.
