Hi there! My name is Hunter A. I'm currently a Music Education and Saxophone Performance major at Wright State University. I graduated from Clark State in 2020 with my Associate of Science degree and went on and am currently pursuing my bachelor's. I'm very passionate about teaching and playing music and have been playing for a little over 10 years now. I've been teaching private lessons for roughly a year now and was a Saxophone and Clarinet instructor at a few marching bands during their season last Fall 2021. Read More

I tend to set my expectations high for each student while also taking the time to learn each student's personality in order to help them meet those expectations. I have learned through my numerous years of teaching that every student learns at a different rate but they can all achieve success. I believe in making my students comfortable. A relaxed atmosphere promotes an environment to ask questions freely. "Mistakes" are part of learning and growing! Read More

In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I also spent some time giving private trombone, bass, and guitar lessons in high school. Along with teaching music, I have much experience working with students ages 2-18 as a summer camp sports director, youth director at a teen center, and a soccer coach and trainer. Read More
Instruments: Cello
I use the Suzuki Pedagogy method to teach. It is a great and fun method for students to learn the cello. This method is very well organized. Step by step, you will learn so much after using Suzuki method for a while. This method gives you a musical environment, and it can make the cello become your second voice. Dr.Suzuki believed that every child, if properly taught, was capable of a high level of musical achievement. Read More

As a performer, I was asked to play as principal flutist in my middle school wind band and was also admitted to Piano Major in the first two years of my Bachelor's Degree. I was one of the best pianists in my undergraduate school and switched to the composition and theory major to learn more knowledge (piano GPA was preferred to be high by most composition professors to accept this switching). For my string students, I typically use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements at first, and then I introduce the Suzuki Method for solo repertoire once they have progressed on their instruments. For my vocal students, I find what type of music my student is interested in, and I then recommend a voice book that we will pick repertoire from. For my piano students, I use the Piano Adventures series, which includes the fundamentals as well as solo repertoire. Read More
Instruments: Voice
When it comes to teaching voice, there is no one way of doing so. Each child learns differently and each child has a different instrument, and it is most important that that be figured out first. I will generally start out with well known songs sung by ear, and then depending on the students level help them to learn to read music. I will always be careful to never allow a student to sing something that is not designed for their age or their voice type. Read More
