I'm a self-taught musician from the age of 15; at 16 I was helping my close friends learn; and by 17 I was already taking on students. Since then, I've had over a decade of experience and dozens of students who I've helped usher in to the wonderful world of music. I feel the most important thing when teaching is making sure the student is relaxed and having fun while playing. While I stress setting goals, I also feel it's important the student is learning at a pace that's comfortable. Positivity is very important as I feel a positive atmosphere can help fuel a student's drive for success. But most importantly, I feel that humor is very important when teaching. If a student comes across a beat or method that's particularly challenging, humor can help melt away any frustration or tension the student is feeling. Read More

I began taking piano lessons at the age of 8, and decided to further my studies by attending the music program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 2018, I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Music, studying piano and music composition. I have taught music in many different places in since 2016. My approach varies depending on the student.  For younger students I usually take a very systematic step by step approach using method books.  If the student already knows what they want to learn and has specific goals I try to tailor to their needs. For guitar students who are starting from scratch I usually begin with the Hal Leonard Guitar method book or give them the option to use a classical method book if they're really interested in classical guitar. Since every student is unique, my approach to instruction is also unique, I customize all of my lessons to keep them engaging. motivating, and fun. I set achievable goals for my students at every lesson and reward them when they are met. Applauding their accomplishments is a powerful motivator, I am able to use the fun features of my digital piano to blend various musical instruments, voices, and sound effects together to further enhance the musical experience as well as develop an ear for a variety of sound combinations.
