Instruments: Piano Organ Music
Young children get excited about games and movements easily, thus, I will include a lot of music interactive activities and games in my lesson to motivate their music learning. Furthermore, I believe that teaching must match to the students learning style, not learning match to the teachers teaching style. Therefore, teaching style, curriculum, and approach should be flexible, varied, and individual. I will observe and discover my students learning style and ability in the first lesson, then I will design a tailor-made curriculum for him/her. Read More

I teach each student based on their needs and goals. Fundamentals are key to playing well. I always want learning to be fun but effective. I teach the student how to practice to reach goals and help the student set goals. I teach in terms of musicality followed by technicality. Tone is what allows a performer to tell a story, but technique is also key. By developing a strong sense of fundamentals, musicality is easier to achieve. Read More

For beginner Piano / Keyboard Students, I use the Bastien Books. They are simple to understand and get the Student through the first few stages of Right Hand Left Hand coordination and positions. I have several different books for Saxophone Students that feature technique, solo repertoire and duets. Depending on whether the student is a child, a teenager or an adult, I choose either a Daisy Guitar Book, Hal Leonard books, or the Berkeley School of Music for Guitarists. Read More

I have been teaching music for more than 10 years. While living in New York City I taught group ensemble classes for students ages 10-16 which played everything from jazz standards to pop, rock, hip-hop and blues. I’ve taught private lessons in drums, guitar and piano for Third Street Music Settlement, the country’s oldest community music school. My students have went on to participate in Berklee School of Music and Jazz at Lincoln Center educational programs. Read More

Im usually teaching with Alexander technique which intense to use natural voice technique and try to teach what is the song about and which emotion singer has to have for the song. Read More

For beginning students, I start with the traditional Mel Bay (or comparable) beginner books that focus on the fundamentals while building strength and coordination and just build from there. For students with a little more experience, I like to focus on more challenging exercises and concepts while nurturing their knowledge of music theory and performance. Each student is different and knowing what motivates them motivates me. My goal is to have them want to pick up their instrument and play. Read More
