If they mention an area of difficulty we focus on that before making any attempt to play the piece through. As the student progresses and has a good understanding of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for their skill level. I do not put deadlines or timelines on any student's progress, and I also realize that each student's needs are unique to each and every person.
