When I took piano lessons, my teacher simultaneously taught John Thompson, John Schaum, and Alfred's Basic piano courses, which was a bit overwhelming! For children in particular, I believe that John Thompson does the most effective job of working from the fundamentals up to the classics. I also have experience in providing group music education and movement classes to homeschool students. I pursued a Masters of Public Administration in Healthcare degree and moved to the Philadelphia area to pursue a new career in that field. I believe Faber books do an excellent job at covering all areas of music. I make sure to keep tabs on my students' practicing as I believe in consistency. I started at the age of 9 on the accordion. I performed various concerts while continuing to sharpen my skills as a piano player. I have over 40 years of experience performing and teaching. What separates the best piano players from the rest of us is that they persevere through these challenges. Having the personal fortitude and work ethic to look at any difficult passage, and practice it until its perfect, is an attribute that you can learn, but will need to be cognizant of every day.
