Once the students has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what students is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lesson engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Since then I have been performing original electronic music in the greater NYC/Fairfield area. For beginning piano students who are children, I usually start with John Thompson's "Teaching Little Fingers To Play."  Once the student has progressed and becomes more familiar with reading the notes in both clefs, I will begin to introduce solo pieces of music that the child picks out of the choices I present to them.  I do this to help encourage and reward the child with their success.  For adult piano students, I find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly. My mother was a trumpet and piano teacher and I grew up with lessons going on in the house constantly. My father was an English teacher for 35 years! I have enjoyed thirty years of private lessons, teaching all ages a variety of styles of music! My sister is a violinist that plays in the Stanford Symphony!
