For beginning students, I begin with basic open chords and scales. Once the student has basic chords down I like to teach them a song of there choosing. I found this to be one of the most rewarding experiences when I began taking lessons. For adults, I like to hear any ideas they may have and give my input and direction. I have loved music my entire life, and I am a fun, knowledgeable and dedicated teacher of both the clarinet and the piano. After graduating with a clarinet performance degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2007, I have performed in many Boston and New Hampshire-area orchestras.  I am originally from the very small town of Barryville, NY, and my orchestral career has taken me to wonderful concert halls like Boston's Symphony Hall, Clevelan'ds Blossom Music Center, and New York's Carnegie Hall. My teaching style is instruction, encouragement and assignment. I will teach a concept and then encourage the student as they attempt to master the skill. I will then assign that concept and skill as homework. After the student masters that concept I will introduce another concept that builds upon the previous one. During each quarter of the year a piece of music is assigned where those concepts are necessary to perform the piece. Read More
