Before earning my bachelor's degree in K-12 Music Education in 2020, I held a longtime position as a tenor vocalist and choral leader with First Christian Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and post-degree as a K-12 music teacher in dual-language immersion public schools and technology-focused charter schools in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. My teaching philosophy is that anyone can learn. Any dreams or goals a student may have, it is my job to make them happen! For beginners, I teach using the Suzuki method. I find that they can be very helpful and that many kids enjoy the songs within them. For intermediate and advanced students, I use a combination of the Suzuki books, chamber music, and outside works. I find learning how to work with other musicians and how two parts might fit together is as essential as learning theory and technique itself. Read More

I can teach any skill level. If you are beginning with zero experience, the first thing I teach is middle C. It's the center of the universe as far as the piano is concerned. I also teach 'spider position', which is how the student wants to have their hands positioned. Intermediate students can dictate to me what they want to work on.
