For beginning students, I will start with standing position and breath training along with simple vocalize and songs that students like to sing. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals I will begin to introduce technical repertoire. For advanced students, I will focus on solve the students problems first, (such as jaw tension, tongue tension, body tension and breath disconnection exc.) then introduce new repertoire will help the students and develop the students to the higher and higher level. I am very encouraging and enthusiastic but at the same time I am very alert to the details of how the student is performing and progressing. I am very gentle and always try to just suggest a better way if I see a problem rather than criticizing. I believe piano lessons should be an enjoyable experience and dont push for required practice amounts or exercises that are not musical. I'm a Jazz/Classical pianist, composer, and educator. I graduated from Concordia University and started my career as a Jazz pianist in Montreal QC. Soon after, I took a next big step of pursuing MM (master's in music) in Jazz Piano in NY. I had wonderful two years in SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music studying with renowned Jazz legends, and it led me to an opportunity to go for second MM in Classical Composition that gave me so much wider and deeper musical spectrum. We explore different song styles and different exercises that speak to each individual student. I also believe in regularly providing constructive criticism and encouragement for each student's accomplishments. The more you inspire your student, the more driven they become.
