I'm originally from Iowa where I grew up on a farm, eventually starting trombone in 3rd grade when my cousin gave me his old horn. After having a successful high school career I attended Iowa State University and earned a Bachelors of Music in trombone performance. Playing trombone has given me many wonderful opportunities in my life such as performing with the Boston Brass and Dallas Brass, performing in Europe three separate times, playing in the Southeast Trombone Symposium, and playing in many other bands, orchestras, and festivals. My teaching style is based around my love for storytelling and pictures. I will often ask students how a melodic line or etude makes them feel when they hear it or play it. I develop on this and start to guide the student to see the over arching theme of an etude and to develop a wide pallet of many colors to create a picture with their sound.
