I place emphasis on helping each student strengthen fundamentals, thus helping them achieve a phsysiologically healthy approach to playing. With these concepts under way, I will help the student develop their own unique interpretive skills and apply them to their individial interests in music. Above all, my goal is to help students to becomemusiciansfirst, and trombonists second. Read More

My teaching experience stems back to high school. When I was 14 I was recognized for my talent to help members of the Jr high and beginner band classes. Then when I was attending Miami University, I started my own studio of three high school trombone students; I did that for 2 years. Since then I have taught at dozens of band camps all across Ohio, I have taught in BGSUs Academy Band from 2017-2018, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestras Youth Wind Ensemble from 2014-2016. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I am a classically trained saxophonist with over five years of teaching experience. I have worked with students ages 10 through 40, in many different settings. I recently finished my student teaching placement, where I taught lessons on flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, and trombone. I also have experience teaching jazz band, marching band, concert band, and individual lessons. Although my main instrument is saxophone, I actually started on clarinet when I first joined band. Being a music education student, I learn about many methods of teaching that can cater to a variety of different people and musicians. I typically like to create practice sheets, so that progress can be tracked over time. Assessments will be based on effort, and minor improvements over a long period of time, as music takes a lot of patience and time to really improve! I will allow students to bring what they may want to work on, as well as recommendations from myself on some exercises/repertoire to check out. Read More

There really is no limit to which methods work for people. Every person learns their own way, and it is true that a variety of methods work for an individuals learning process. I enjoy employing all ways of experiencing music including playing by ear, reading sheet music, learning music theory and its practical applications, as well as playing with others and truly feeling what the music is wanting to say. Instruments: Trombone
My biggest goal in teaching students of all walks of life is fostering a life long appreciation and love for music. When I was growing up and learning trombone I found myself removing the emotional parts of creating beautiful music from the instrument and found making music to be a boring part of my day. This taught me a lot about how learning an instrument and the music that comes along with it should be a highlight of one's day. Read More

I am passionate about my students and about music. From the outset of working with music students I emphasize the importance of good posture and handling of their instrument, good breathing technique, good embouchure, and regular practice in order to develop strong embouchure and technique and knowledge of their instrument. I love teaching! Whether it is music, dance, math, or anything else I may find myself teaching, I give my all to my students. Read More
