Instruments: Guitar Voice Acoustic Guitar
for beginning students who are children and just starting out, i typically start with the basic elements of either voice or guitar, depending on which lesson you have chosen. once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire which is age - appropriate of course, in hopes of preparing them for a first recital, perhaps. for adults, i try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I try to concentrate on the learning progress and enthusiasm of the student. I want to know what motivates them and the parents and help them focus on that. I also encourage performance opportunities and recitals to give them goals to work towards. I go at the students pace while challenging them to the next learning objective. My lessons are very interactive and tailored to their needs while at the same time following a standardized scope and sequence to make sure all the essentials are covered. Read More

I want to give all my students a background in classical music to prepare them for possible further education in music and give them confidence among classically-trained musicians. I also want my curriculum to include non-classical musical styles that each particular student enjoys and relates to. I want to help students accomplish their personal goals (and their parents’ goals) regarding their musical education. Most importantly, I want my students to love playing and/or singing music! Instruments: Voice Drums Orchestral Percussion
I have experience in teaching voice and drums, dating back to my last semester in college. I have been able to teach young kids the absolute privilege of singing and performing. I really encourage my students to keep practice and warm up times at the top of their priority list. Improving your voice and performance abilities starts with warming up. I also encourage them to enter as many competitions as they can, as well as auditioning for as many shows across the country as they can, so that they can be noticed and people can see what they can do! For beginner's, I do typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books. For intermediate, I'll evaluate what materials they've used thus far in their lessons and go from there. If someone is familiar with a set of books in a positive way, there's no reason to change the books they're using. I do believe, however, there is profit in a variety of repertoire, so a diverse lesson is key. I have learned from experience that simply learning one genre (classical, jazz, showtunes) is less desirable than having a familiar ear to multiple styles. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leonard's Piano for Beginners. Progress will depend on the students' willingness to learn and practice as well as encouragement from their parents. For students who already have an understanding of basic fundamentals, I will assess their skill level and select music appropriate for their progression and level of play. Adult beginner students are more than welcome to use piano books. Read More
