I have taught music classes (choir, music theory, hand bells, recorders, and general music) for Kindergarten-10th grade for seven years, and I have taught private music lessons for over 10 years. I have taught students as young as five years old, and I've had students well into their retirement years as well. For children, I draw influence from the organization of the Suzuki method, while still maintaining the emphasis on fun. (Learning TV theme songs, etc) Fundamentals are introduced with memorable examples tailored to the students musical interests. Once the student shows understanding and mastery of the basic fundamentals taught in these books, the level of advancement grows and solo pieces will be chosen that best help the Student progress musically and technically.
