I've been teaching students from age 5 to age 85. With my younger students, when they arrive at lessons, I asked them for their numbers. The numbers are the amount of minutes each younger student practices per day. I tell all of my students you should target a minimum of 35 minutes per day, per instrument. Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest.  With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, and I use other books to supplement scales/technique.  If a student already has musical literature I am very open to using that to build a specific curriculum for that student. I have worked in various schools for Piscataway Board of Education as a Pre-K Music Teacher, Music Camp Councilor, Enrichment Music and Keyboard teacher, Group Toddler music teacher, and a Teachers Aid.
