I love sharing what I've learned about singing through my decades as a Professor at Berklee College of Music, Boston. Berklee is the #1 college that teaches Commercial Music (mostly Jazz and Pop). Currently I sing a combination of pop and classical in church as well as teach fitness in Encinitas. I have written books on singing and American diction as well as having recorded with symphonies and jazz bands. Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest.  With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, and I use other books to supplement scales/technique.  If a student already has musical literature I am very open to using that to build a specific curriculum for that student. We set goals and work on their vocal books which can be used for any audition, performance or personal events. I use little Mozarts for children who are autistic, learning disabilities and under 5 years old. We have a wonderful time and sometimes younger children need a parent or caregiver to help them online. It is so amazing and fun to see them understand and get big smiles on their faces. For my beginning piano students, I like to start with Alfreds performance books and music theory to help assist the note and music reading. My cello students that are still in the beginning stages I like to have using the Suzuki books to help work towards more advanced music and skills. My voice students are all very different so I shape our lesson methods based on what style of singing theyre interested in, but we always begin working on proper breathing and learning solfege. My favorite memories as a child were of my Mother cooking and singing along to every spanish song that came on the radio. Growing up, I would imitate voices from diffrent cultures from cuban music, mexican and other spanish styles. After introducing myself to a guitar, I realized I was also teaching others how to speak a diffrent language through music.
