I love when my students play songs they love, so I often make my own arrangements of those songs to make them approachable for the student. For my voice students, I also follow a similar method. We work on breathing, alexander technique, body awareness, yoga, music theory, solfege and acting. We develop healthy vocal habits and explore different vocal methods depending on student interests. For beginning students, I will start with standing position and breath training along with simple vocalize and songs that students like to sing. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals I will begin to introduce technical repertoire. I've been teaching for over 7 years. In Bolivia I directed a children's chorus and a high school chorus. Besides teaching music I also tutored kids in various academic subjects and taught dance classes. I've taught private lessons in the U.S and prepared my students for performances, auditions and just for some home Holiday caroling! I especially love teaching voice. I make goals and adjust to the pace of the student.  While I don't believe I am too strict a teacher, I am always trying to challenge students. Besides keeping them on track with practicing the fundamentals, I encourage students to discover how beautiful and fun music is.    I think my style is more learning music itself. Since I am a singer, piano player and composer, I think I more encourage my students to use their ears and to understand harmony and theory which very is useful for playing music with any instruments. I started teaching during my time at NYU. An interesting fact about my particular vocal journey is that because I had never really had formal voice training, I was learning vocal concepts from a scientific and theoretical perspective in the classroom while concurrently learning them in my own body and voice in my own lessons. I continued my classical training under the tutelage of a graduate of Philadelphia's world renown Academy of Vocal Arts and long-time performer of the Metropolitan Opera.
