The fundamentals of singing can be explained in 15-20 minutes, but it takes a lifetime to master them. Wherever you are in the pursuit of voice, it's necessary to develop reproducible, reliable technique. Singing is breath, vowels and consonants, and feeling, and how the three of them interact is crucial to having a sustainable, easy, and fun instrument. This is where the work is. The first half of each lesson is spent on vocal exercises and technique, and the second half is spent working on repertoire, applying what's been learned in an effective and lasting way. Read More

I use Beyer's Elementary Instruction tutor for beginners, another extensively used tutor that is inexpensive and pretty thorough. Bayer is all classicist but very easy to follow. It has technique and repertoire that is priceless for any beginner and for a good refresher too. Together with Bayer I introduce the student to an array of other books in order to spice up the course. "Harmony at the Keyboard" by R.O.Morris, where you learn harmony playing the piano and end up playing Bach's Chorales and composing melodies and harmonies to thorough basses from some of the best classical composers, a discipline that is key to arrangement and composition. My teaching style is individualized to meet the needs of the students. I like to use a portion of the first lesson to discuss the goals and musical interest of the student regardless of age. I encourage beginner students to learn basic theory to develop rudimentary skills. I then try to incorporate a student’s favorite music into the lesson plans. I also strongly encourage voice and guitar students to write their own music to promote self expression. Read More

I motivate my students by being interactive. With children who are new to music, I use my personal method, which is characterized by providing knowledge while playing interactive games, which helps the children grasp music-related issues. With the older students, I try to inspire them by playing duets, and placing emphasis on a variety of repertoire. I also emphasize the theory of music as an indispensable element of learning instrument. Read More

I have been in love with music for as long as I can remember! Growing up under the impression of my father, who was always involved in playing instruments and singing from a young age, you could say that it is in my DNA. Over the years I have accumulated various awards and recognition including Superior ratings in sight reading on double bass, outstanding vocal performance from the Miami Conservatory of Music, and performing alongside the county's best in the Miami Dade Honor's Orchestra.
