I try to make my lessons fun but challenging enough for there to be growth! There are days when our voices don't work as well as we'd like them to. I want my students to know that that's completely normal. Us singers have to learn vocal technique to help support ourselves on our "vocally-bad days" and to keep our only pair of vocal cords healthy at all times. If I notice a student is getting frustrated or hitting a wall with their voice, we may take a break to work on more technical things. Read More

I began teaching right after college, but put that on hold when my career took off. After having children, I returned to teaching and have taught in schools and privately for the last 15 years. I teach a classical , bell canto foundation so my students learn how to use their voice properly and then add different techniques to help them shape their sound for different styles of singing. I specialize in helping musical theater singers find and strengthen their mix and belt voices. Read More

My teaching experience dates all the way back to early high school, when I taught piano lessons to kids in my local neighborhood. In college, I continued teaching as a part time job while at home during the summers, and when I returned home from touring, I taught at several studios in the Sacramento area, teaching private voice and piano, and classes I designed curriculum for, such as Musical Theatre for Beginners, "We Sing Disney", and Singing for Ages 8-12. I use Suzuki as a push off point for violinists. But I will teach anything a musician would like to learn and have music for almost all styles. I usually will begin vocalists with any song they are interested in learning and can recommend books more tailored to their needs and goals upon meeting. Read More

My teaching experience begins when I apprenticed under my Choral teacher in high school and she would ask me to work one on one with certain singers that needed extra help. I started teaching private lessons part time at 17 and continued all through college. I have been consistently teaching students in my home for the past 5 years. I am a firm believer that in order to truly excel in anything you must have a classical foundation. Read More

I approach teaching with specific methods in mind, but I always tailor my lessons to the student. I keep an open mind to switching things up if and idea isn't clicking, because the student and their love for music is what I care about most. I'm a fan of trying different things and working towards the student's goals. I want the student to have fun, most importantly, and I want them to grow and feel confident in their voice. Read More

My first job late in high school was to Lifeguard, and teach swim lessons. I also taught sports on weekends. I've worked with kids ranging from 6 months to 17, and also have worked with adults, and people with disabilities. I continued to teach, and work with kids for several years following. Times in between these jobs I began giving lessons to children I met through these programs I worked for that needed someone to give music lessons. Read More
